When you leave your doctor's office, do you wish you had asked more questions, listened more carefully to what he or she advised you, taken notes?
Do you wonder what you're supposed to do now?
The Nix Health Foundation Resource Center is your partner in finding reliable, up-to-date information to make you a wiser health care consumer.
We have a library of public health education brochures that we distribute at no cost to patients, family members, and the general public.
MedlinePlus is the National Institutes of Health's Web site for patients and their families and friends. Produced by the National Library of Medicine, it brings you information on over 800 diseases, conditions, and wellness issues in language you can understand.
You can use MedlinePlus to learn about the latest treatments, look up information on a drug or supplement, find out the meanings of words, or view medical videos or illustrations. You can also get links to the latest medical research on your topic or find out about clinical trials on a disease or condition.
There are directories, a medical encyclopedia and a medical dictionary, easy-to-understand tutorials on common conditions, tests, and treatments, health information in Spanish, extensive information on prescription and nonprescription drugs, health information from the media, and links to thousands of clinical trials.
What if you don't have a computer or Internet access? You may come to the Nix Foundation's office in the Nix Medical Center, 414 Navarro, Suite 1015, where our Resource Center computers offer Internet access.
We invite you to take advantage of this information for your health's sake.
