The Nix Health Foundation is committed to improving quality of life by offering meaningful programs and services that support health and wellness through education, awareness and prevention.
The Nix Foundation has served as a valuable resource for patients and the San Antonio community since 1985. In addition to our current programs, we continue to develop new initiatives to serve local community needs.

Seminars are held at the Jefferson C. Davis Learning Center on the fifth floor of the Nix Medical Center, 414 Navarro. Cost is $7.00 and includes lunch, parking and the lecture.
If you’d like a light stretching regimen, come at 10:30 prior to the Smart Living Seminar.
Parking is provided at the Nix Medical Center Garage (valet parking), or at the Houston Street Garage, located at the corner of College Street and Navarro. Lunch is served at 11:30 prior to the lecture, which begins at 12 noon.

Holistic Approach to Health

In this talk Dr Uma Nair will discuss some of the popular alternative methods of healing that are available in San Antonio. Dr Nair is an Internist and practices with San Antonio Medical Associates. She will also introduce the benefits of Meditation Practices to overall health and well being.
After the May seminar, join us aboard a river barge as we take in the sights of the scenic San Antonio River Walk. The trip will commence immediately following the Senior Gold Smart Living Seminar. The hour-long trip (2:00-3:00 pm) is open to members; reservations are required due to limited seating.

Therapeutic Heart Pillows
Your help is needed to send well wishes along with a homemade heart-shaped pillow to patients recovering from cardiac or breast surgery. Therapeutic Heart Pillows bring comfort and cheer in the hospital room and long after surgery. They help ease pain and swelling and assist the patient in the recovery process. We need people who can sew pillows from their home as well as donate fabric and fiberfill. Cash donations are also accepted.

Nix Volunteer Services
Many people in San Antonio choose to give up some of their spare time to help causes in the community that are close to their hearts. The Nix Health Foundation has a program for volunteers to provide customer service and comfort to the patients and family members of Nix Health. Volunteer areas include: Information Desk on the 17th floor, Surgical Waiting Room, Nursing Units, and Hospitality Cart.
